NH Senate blocks eminent domain for Northern Pass

The New Hampshire Senate has voted 23-1 to pass an amended bill that would prohibit the use of eminent domain in building a 180-mile power project from Canada to southern New Hampshire.

The Senate on Wednesday left the door open for future transmission projects whose power the region would need. It also added protections for property owners and created a commission to develop policies for burying power lines.

The Senate was scrambling to fix a technical error before sending the amended bill back to the House sometime next week.
