The New Mexico Tourism Department has picked a Texas firm to develop a new advertising campaign promoting the state.
Tourism Secretary Monique Jacobson announced Tuesday the department has awarded a $2 million contract to Vendor, Inc., an Austin-based firm whose principals have worked on such brands as Southwest Airlines, Nike, Wal-Mart Stores, BMW and AT&T.
Vendor was selected through a competitive process. Jacobson said the department received 20 proposals, including six from New Mexico-based firms. Vendor scored the highest in the overall evaluation process and had the lowest retainer, she said.
The agency will be tasked with developing a campaign that sells the state as a destination with authentic adventures and rich culture. Jacobson said the goal is to launch the new campaign by mid-April.
