New Orleans' only Fortune 500 company, power provider Entergy Corp., has turned its 28-story office tower near the Superdome into a high-tech media platform, projecting 3D graphics and animation featuring the BCS championship game between LSU and Alabama.
New Orleans-oriented themes and LSU highlights are projected on the side of the building nearly half the size of a football field. The system also was plugged into Twitter where some fan tweets hit the lights for all to see. The graphics also include a 3 1/2 story scoreboard with continuous game updates and football trivia.
Entergy chief executive Wayne Leonard wouldn't reveal how much the display cost, but said Monday, "It's not cheap, I'll tell you that." He says the company's shareholders _ not utility ratepayers _ were footing the bill.
