Rolls-Royce announces 2nd jet test stand

Rolls-Royce North America is adding a second jet engine test stand at the John C. Stennis Space Center in Hancock County, Miss.

The announcement came Monday.

Rolls-Royce officials say the project represents an investment of at least $50 million and will create 35 new jobs. Currently, Rolls-Royce employs 45 workers at the Stennis Space Center.

Rolls-Royce broke ground on a new jet engine testing facility at Stennis Space Center in June 2006. It opened in 2007. The Reston, Va.-based company also owns a foundry in Pascagoula that manufactures Navy and commercial ship propellers.

The company is one of the leading jet engine producers in the world, employing more than 38,000 people in 50 countries.
