Former lawmaker named to Mo. utility commission

A former Democratic state lawmaker has been named to the Missouri Public Service Commission, which is responsible for regulating utilities.

Gov. Jay Nixon on Wednesday appointed Steve Stoll, of Festus, to the five-member commission. Stoll would replace Robert Clayton, who Nixon appointed in July to a state appeals court. The appointment will require Senate confirmation when lawmakers return to the state Capitol.

Stoll served in the Missouri Senate from 1999 to 2005. He served in the Missouri House from 1993 to 1999. He was the city administrator in Festus from 2005 to 2009 and has been the director of administration for Jefferson County since 2009.
