W.Va. unemployment rate decreases slightly in Nov.

West Virginia's unemployment rate dipped slightly to 7.1 percent in November, down from 7.3 percent in October.

WorkForce West Virginia says there remained 55,000 unemployed residents, with total unemployment down 2,100.

Service-providing jobs grew by 2,800, offsetting a decline of 700 jobs in the good-producing sector.

Trade, transportation and utilities jobs increased by 2,400. Other gains included 900 in government and 400 in information.

Job losses included 600 in leisure and hospitality, 200 in financial services and 100 in professional and business services.

The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined slightly to 7.9 percent, down from 8.2 percent in October. That's compared to the national rate of 8.6 percent.
