Occupancy in Waikiki hotels in October helped Oahu set a new revenue record.
Hospitality Advisors LLC released Hawaii hotel occupancy data Monday that shows Waikiki occupancy averaged 83.1 percent in October for a gain of 3 percentage points over last year. Average daily rates rose sharply by 9.6 percent to $163.05. The tourism industry consultant company says strong increases in East Coast and international arrivals helped Oahu set an October revenue per available room record at $132.72.
Overall, Hawaii's hotel industry showed improvement over last year with statewide occupancy increasing by 1.6 percentage points to 72.5 percent. Average daily rates rose 7.4 percent to $176.18 for October.
Hospitality Advisors President and CEO Joseph Toy says Waikiki continues to be the engine of Hawaii's recovery in 2011.
