Army to cut 86 civilian positions at Va base

The U.S. Army plans to eliminate more than 80 civilian positions at Joint Base Langley-Eustis as part of defense funding cuts.

Media outlets say the Army Training and Doctrine Command announced the cuts Thursday night. The 86 positions at the Virginia base are among 8,700 that will be cut by September 2012.

Col. Chris Kubik, says most of the cuts are expected to be made through attrition or early retirement offers.
