NEW SKIPPER: John Skipper, 55, will take over from longtime ESPN President George Bodenheimer as president of the network on Jan. 1.
SUCCESSION PLAN: The Walt Disney Co., which owns ESPN, says the change was part of company-wide succession planning. Skipper also becomes co-chair of Disney Media Networks, the family entertainment giant's most profitable division.
STEPPING BACK: Bodenheimer, 53, will continue to chair ESPN's board of directors. Bodenheimer joined ESPN in 1981, working in the mail room.
