METALS SURGE: Metals prices surged Thursday on news of a financial bailout plan in Europe. Some metal prices, like copper, were up as much as 6 percent.
EUROPEAN PLAN: Europe's financial rescue plan includes a reduction in Greece's debt load, shoring up the region's banks and strengthening a European bailout fund so it can lend out up to $1.39 trillion. The plan is intended to prevent larger countries like Italy from being dragged into the crisis.
OIL RISES: Benchmark oil gained $3.76, or 4 percent, to $93.96 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
