About 14,000 musical wooden table toys made by Battat Inc. are being voluntarily recalled because of the risk of choking on small parts of the toy.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday that small pegs from the xylophone toy can detach and pose a choking hazard to young children. The regulator and toy company have received nine reports of loose and detached pegs but no injuries have been reported.
Battat, based in Plattsburgh, N.Y., makes the table, which features a green-painted surface with colorful instruments affixed to the top. The toy was sold at music and toy stores nationwide, as well as online, from September 2006 through October 2010 for about $30.
Consumers should not allow children to use the toy and contact Battat for a free replacement.
