MONTHLY RISE: Spring buying pushed home prices up for a third straight month in most major U.S. cities in June. Prices rose in 19 of 20 cities tracked by the Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller home-price index. Prices also rose 3.6 percent in the April-June quarter compared to previous quarter.
STILL DOWN: Analysts say home prices have stabilized in coastal cities over the past six months. But over the past 12 months, home prices declined in all 20 cities.
SUN BELT HURTING: Chicago, Minneapolis, Washington and Boston had the biggest monthly increases. Las Vegas and Phoenix reported small seasonal increases.
