News Corp. has hired two top deputies to join former New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein at its education division.
The company said Wednesday that Kristen Kane, the former chief operating officer for New York City schools, will assume the same position at News Corp.'s education division.
Peter Gorman, the former superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in North Carolina, will be named senior vice president and will work with school districts to implement the division's programs.
Klein said Kane and Gorman are recognized leaders in their field.
Klein joined News Corp. as CEO of the newly formed education division in January.
News Corp.'s education division is focused on technology-based content and digital assessment tools for students.
News Corp. recently acquired Brooklyn-based education technology company Wireless Generation.
