The chief executive of Russia's natural gas monopoly Gazprom says that supplying gas to European power plants is the future of their work in the continent.
Alexei Miller said Thursday that a recent decision by the German government to shut down the country's nuclear plants by 2022 has influenced his company's strategy.
He says gas deliveries for power generation to Germany "will be our primary focus for our work on the German market."
Miller told a selected group of European journalists Thursday "the direct gas supplies to gas powered power plants is something which interests us greatly."
He said the strategy was "the future of our work in Europe."
