The clothing chain said higher costs for cotton and weaker sales hurt its quarterly profit, and it cut its outlook for the year.

Barnes & Noble Inc., up $4.22 at $18.33

Billionaire media mogul John Malone's Liberty Media Corp. offered to buy the bookseller in a deal valued at about $1 billion.

Salesforce.com, up $10.80 at $146.61

The on-demand software company added 5,400 customers during the quarter and its revenue forecast for the year topped analyst estimates.

Aeropostale Inc., down $3.04 at $18.30

The teen retailer's earnings guidance for the current quarter fell far short of expectations amid dropping sales and rising costs.

Fortune Brands Inc., down $1.01 at $63.88

The alcohol and home and security products company sold its Acushnet Co. golf business to Korean investors for $1.2 billion.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp., up $2.94 at $74.58

BP's $1.1 billion settlement with MOEX suggests Anadarko's possible obligation to BP may be less than feared, said a Citi analyst.

Nordson Corp., down $3.75 at $50.66

The company, which makes equipment used in applying adhesives and sealants, posted a disappointing third-quarter revenue outlook.

Popular Inc., down 11 cents at $2.92

The owner of a Puerto Rico bank said negotiations to sell roughly $500 million in soured loans have ended without a deal.
