Wal-Mart says it is bringing 4,000 new jobs and $400 million in investments to South Carolina over the next five years.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Wal-Mart CEO Bill Simon announced the move at a news conference in West Columbia Wednesday afternoon.

It means at least a dozen new stores and relocations and expansions for other existing stores across the state. The company says there are no plans to expand its distribution center near Greenville.

Wal-Mart's decision brings its total number of jobs in South Carolina to approximately 32,000. Simon says the move has been in the works for months.
