Summary Box: Comcast to invest $300M more in NBCU

NBCU SPENDING: Comcast Corp. will spend an extra $300 million on newly acquired NBCUniversal this year, mostly on new prime-time shows to help turn around fourth-ranked broadcaster NBC.

10 P.M. SLOT: About $200 million will be spent refreshing its 10 p.m. line-up. Some shows had quickly been put up after NBC canceled a five-nights a week experiment with Jay Leno in the slot. NBC unveils its prime-time schedule later this month.

COMCAST UPBEAT: Comcast's first-quarter net income rose 9 percent to $943 million, or 34 cents per share. Revenue rose 32 percent to $12.1 billion, although results included NBCUniversal results that weren't included before.
