Oil prices rose Tuesday as concerns about political upheaval in North Africa and the Middle East trumped economic data suggesting that consumers are worried about the cost of fuel and food.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange:
_Benchmark crude gained 81cents to settle at $104.79 per barrel;
_Heating oil added 1.61 cents to settle at $3.0573 per gallon;
_Gasoline climbed 1.60 cents to settle at $3.0436 per gallon;
_Natural gas lost 18.5 cents to settle at $4.263 per 1,000 cubic feet.
On the ICE Futures exchange:
_Brent crude added 38 cents to settle at $114.96 per barrel.
