THE NUMBERS: General Mills Inc. reported adjusted earnings of 56 cents per share for its fiscal third quarter. Revenue rose 2 percent to $3.65 billion. Analysts expected earnings of 56 cents per share on revenue of $3.7 billion.
SNACK ATTACK: The Minneapolis company said snack division revenue climbed 14 percent. Some of the unit's strongest performers included Nature Valley and Fiber One snack bars.
CEREAL WEAK: The maker of Cheerios and Wheaties said revenue from cereal fell 6 percent because it introduced fewer new products in the quarter.
