Honda Motor Co. says it will delay filling orders for Japanese-built cars placed by U.S. dealers because of production shutdowns in Japan.
Honda told dealers in a memo that it does not know when production in Japan will return to normal. The company says it will not fulfill orders for those vehicles until production returns.
Vehicles built in Japan and sold in the U.S. include the Honda Fit, CR-Z, Civic hybrid and Insight.
Honda also says it will not take dealers' orders for cars the company originally planned to build in May.
A Honda spokesman says the company's plans to fill backlogs of orders once plants restart.
