IMPACT AT HOME: Japan's top four auto producers are losing an estimated $150 million per day as most plants remain closed. Japanese auto plants were producing 37,000 cars and trucks per day before the earthquake.

IMPACT ABROAD: General Motors is closing a Louisiana plant because of a lack of parts from Japan, and Toyota has cancelled overtime shifts at plants. Parts shortages could impact many more automakers if plants remain closed for several more weeks.

WHAT'S NEXT: Japanese automakers hope to resume production next week, but they could face rolling blackouts and other disruptions for months.
