Revenue up for KC's Hallmark Cards

Hallmark Cards Inc., the nation's largest greetings card seller, says its revenues were up in 2010.

The Kansas City-based company reported Thursday that its total worldwide revenue rose 3 percent in 2010 to $4.1 billion.

Hallmark, which is privately held and releases limited financial information, says the increase was in part spurred by sales of new products like its recordable storybooks. The company also says it had its strongest holiday season since 2007.

Hallmark subsidiary Crayola also had an 8 percent revenue increase, while Crown Center, Hallmark's real estate subsidiary, posted a 9 percent gain. Crown Media, which includes the Hallmark Channel, was up 3 percent.

Hallmark International, however, ended the year slightly lower than 2009. The company did not say how much lower.
