OIL PAINS: Crude oil futures rose above $104 a barrel as fighting in Libya continued. Analysts worry that continued high oil prices could cut into the economic recovery by increasing transportation and production costs.
UNEMPLOYMENT DIPS: The Labor Department said that the unemployment rate in February dipped to 8.9 percent, down from 9 percent in January.
THE INDEXES: The Dow Jones industrial average fell 88 to 12,169. The S&P 500 fell 10 to 1,321. The Nasdaq composite fell 14 to 2,784. Each index finished the week with slight gains.
