Home Depot, Netflix, Delta are big movers

Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:


Chesapeake Energy Corp., up $1.58 at $32.01

The energy company is selling all of its natural gas assets in Arkansas' Fayetteville shale to BHP Billiton Ltd. for $4.75 billion in cash.

Home Depot Inc., down 39 cents at $38.09

The home improvement retailer's quarterly net income jumped, and the company raised its earnings guidance and dividend.

Barnes & Noble Inc., down $2.67 at $15.94

The book seller suspended its dividend and issued no outlook for the year, and its costs for online operations and e-readers dragged on profit.

Office Depot Inc., up 2 cents at $5.49

The office supplies retailer narrowed its quarterly loss and beat analysts' average estimate despite a drop in revenue.

Delta Air Lines Inc., down 76 cents at $10.74

The airline's shares tumbled as political unrest in Libya, a major oil exporter, pushed oil prices to their highest level since October 2008.


Mentor Graphics Corp., up 95 cents at $15.47

Activist investor Carl Icahn offered to buy the software maker for $17 per share in cash, or about $1.9 billion, and he expects higher bids.

Netflix Inc., down $13.91 at $221.60

Amazon.com Inc. launched a streaming TV and movie service that costs $79 a year, ramping up competition with Netflix.

Clinical Data Inc., down $2.69 at $31.21

Forest Laboratories Inc. is buying the specialty pharmaceutical company for $30 per share, a discount from Friday's closing price.
