Luxury handbag maker Coach Inc. reported fiscal first-quarter net income rose 34 percent, ahead of expectations, on strong demand for its products in the U.S. and overseas. Here's a closer look at results:
TOTAL REVENUE: Up 20 percent to $911.7 million.
Direct-to-consumer revenue (from Coach stores and online purchases): Up 19 percent to $775 million.
Indirect revenue (Wholesale orders form U.S. department stores and international distributors): Up 27 percent to $136 million.
REVENUE AT STORES OPEN AT LEAST A YEAR:
North America: Up 8.5 percent.
Japan: Up 3 percent, or 14 percent adjusted for the stronger yen.
China: Up in the double digits.
