Summary Box: TI 3Q earnings up

BOUNCING BACK: Texas Instruments Inc.'s third-quarter income soared 60 percent, and revenue rose 30 percent from a year ago, as demand for its chips continued to rebound from the recession.

SLOWING DOWN: Like other chip makers, TI signaled that the recovery in consumer demand has slackened, and it expects that to continue in the fourth quarter.

STOCKING UP: TI has taken advantage of the recession to snap up chip factories at rock-bottom prices, but now expects the shopping spree to be over.
