RANGE BOUND: Treasurys were mixed in a quiet day of trading Friday, as bond buyers look toward a round of bond auctions next week and an upcoming meeting of the Federal Reserve. The Fed is expected to begin a new bond-buying effort to lower interest rates and spur spending.
THE 10-YEAR: The 10-year lost 12.5 cents to $100.53. That raised the yield to 2.56 percent from 2.54 percent late Thursday. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
DEBT FOR SALE: The Treasury will auction $109 billion in new government bonds next week.
