Body Central begins trading on Nasdaq

Body Central Corp.'s stock climbed 2 percent in its first day of trading on the Nasdaq Global Market.

Shares of the young women's clothing company gained 26 cents, or 2 percent, to $13.26 in midday trading.

The stock went as high as $14.49 earlier in the session, which tops the $13 per share the initial public offering was priced at.

The IPO of 5 million shares was priced lower than initially predicted. In a Wednesday regulatory filing, Body Central said the IPO was likely to be priced between $14 and $16 per share.

The Jacksonville, Fla., retailer expects proceeds of about $37.8 million. The IPO includes about 3.3 million shares offered by Body Central, with selling stockholders offering about 1.7 million shares.

The stock's ticker is "BODY."
