LDK Solar, Venoco, Gymboree are big market movers

Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Monday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:


LDK Solar Co., up $1.52 at $11.32

The Chinese solar wafer and cell maker raised its revenue and shipment outlook for the third quarter.

Chesapeake Energy Corp., up 25 cents at $23.30

China's state-owned CNOONC Ltd. will invest about $2 billion for a one-third stake in one of Chesapeake's Texas oil and gas fields.

Venoco Inc., down $2.64 at $17

The oil and gas company cut its production estimates for 2010, saying a California well produced unsatisfactory results.

IBM Corp., up 81 cents at $139.66

Shares of the tech giant hit a record high for the first time since the dot-com boom, even as broader markets ended flat.


Gymboree Corp., up $11.88 at $64.83

Private equity firm Bain Capital is buying the children's clothing retailer Gymboree Corp. for $1.8 billion.

Alexza Pharmaceuticals Inc., down $1.65 at $1.38

The FDA did not approve the drug developer's treatment for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder because of concerns about side effects.

Geron Corp., up 34 cents at $5.67

The company began testing an embryonic stem-cell treatment on a patient with spinal cord injuries, the first such test on a human.
