Montgomery businessman and former Marine Rick Barber says he will run for the Republican nomination for the District 2 seat in the U.S. House.

Barber said he will make a formal announcement at noon Wednesday at his Montgomery home.

Barber is seeking the Congressional seat held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Bobby Bright of Montgomery.

Barber joins Montgomery Councilwoman Martha Roby for the Republican nomination to represent the district that runs from north of Montgomery to Dothan in the southeast corner of Alabama.

Barber is corporate vice president of the technology firm InLine and owns two billiards facilities in Montgomery. He is also an organizer of TEA Party events protesting government spending in Washington.
