Chesapeake Energy Corp., up $2.21 to $28.09

France's Total SA committed $2.25 billion to help develop Chesapeake Energy's gas shale assets in Texas.

Sturm, Ruger & Co., up 54 cents to $10.24

An analyst upgraded the handgun maker to "strong buy" from "neutral," saying its shares are undervalued based on gun sales trends.

United Parcel Service Inc., up 81 cents to $58.18

An investment firm upgraded UPS, saying the delivery company's performance would improve with a cyclical recovery in the economy.

Boeing Co., up $2.05 to $56.18

Two investment firms upgraded the aircraft maker's stock, citing factors including an expected increase in orders.

Emdeon Corp., up 22 cents to $15.47

An analyst said he expects the provider of financial and clinical services to the health care industry will beat analysts' estimates for fourth-quarter earnings.

NASDAQ:

Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc., up 60 cents to $4.63

Broadcast revenue was better than expected during the last three months of the year, helped by automotive advertising, the company said.

Calavo Growers Inc., down 85 cents to $16.15

The marketer of fresh avocados and maker of processed avocado products said its profit fell, hurt by a significantly smaller cyclical crop.

ViaSat Inc., down 69 cents to $31.09

An analyst cut the company's stock rating, saying bookings likely slowed during the last three months of the year.
