Federal prosecutors say they won't file charges against two Nebraska car dealership executives accused of stealing more than 80 vehicles off their own lot.

Jan Sharp of the U.S. attorney's office in Omaha on Saturday confirmed that the office had notified Scotts Bluff County authorities of the decision.

Rachel Fait, Allen Patch and another Legacy Auto Group executive were arrested in March on suspicion of theft and title fraud after the missing cars and trucks were found in Utah, Wyoming, Las Vegas and Scottsbluff, Neb.

In November, Nebraska prosecutors dropped all state charges against the pair to clear the way for possible federal charges. The pair had pleaded not guilty.

The state charges could be refiled.
