The following stocks were among those that moved substantially or traded heavily Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market:


Aetna Inc., down 71 cents at $32.15

The health insurer expects a fourth-quarter charge of up to $65 million to cover costs for layoffs and office consolidations.

Cadbury PLC, up 71 cents at $51.03

The British candymaker agreed to a new deadline to disclose any new information about the bid by Kraft Foods Inc. to acquire it.

MGM Mirage, down 23 cents at $9.18

MGM Mirage still needs capital despite the opening of CityCenter and potential Macau initial public offering, an analyst said.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, down 6 cents at $32.11

U.S. and European Union regulators are reviewing a marketing application for the company's seizure drug retigabine.


Nvidia Corp., up 65 cents at $18.67

An analyst upgraded the chip-maker, saying it should benefit from improving demand for personal computers.

Broadcom Corp., up 55 cents at $31.85

The chipmaker said it will settle a class action investor lawsuit related to stock option backdating, but did not admit wrongdoing.

YRC Worldwide Inc., down 4 cents at 99 cents

An analyst said YRC could file for bankruptcy as early as this weekend despite efforts to complete a critical debt-to-exchange offer.

Compugen Ltd., up 28 cents at $4.90

The Israeli drug developer raised a net $19 million through a stock sale and plans to use the money for general corporate purposes.
