The average Dominion Virginia Power customer will pay about 80 cents less per month as a result of two separate actions by the State Corporation Commission.
The commission said Wednesday that surcharges to recover the costs of building two new power plants will result in a $3.03 monthly increase. However, that will be more than offset by a $3.83 decrease in the amount the utility is authorized to collect to pay for fuel.
Those figures are based on a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity. The adjustments take effect Jan. 1.
