Maine's only casino has withdrawn its request to offer up a new type of slot machine for its customers.
Hollywood Slots in Bangor had asked Maine's Gambling Control Board for approval of a so-called "hosted" slot machine, which mimics a table card game. The machines are automated, but instead of putting vouchers into them, customers sit around a table and a casino employee puts the vouchers in for them.
At its November meeting, the gambling board decided to gather more information on the machines before revisiting the request at its December meeting. But the board won't be discussing the machines at Wednesday's meeting because the casino withdrew its request.
