The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, a nonprofit group that operates the restored colonial capital of Virginia, says it will eliminate its mail-order catalog next year, resulting in 14 layoffs.
The foundation will continue to offer products in its retail stores and through select retailers nationwide and will sell some items on its online Web store.
Colonial Williamsburg products division vice president Jim Easton says there has been a steady decline in the catalog business. He says eliminating the catalog would save several million dollars each year in paper, printing and postage costs.
The last catalog will be mailed in January.
