19 biorefinery plants to be built in 15 states

The U.S. Department of Energy announced Friday it will spend $564 million to speed up construction of 19 biorefineries that will turn agriculture and forest waste into diesel fuel. The list of projects:

_ Elevance Renewable Sciences, Newton, Iowa.

_ Enerkem Corp., Pontotoc, Miss.

_ Gas Technology Institute, Des Plaines, Ill.

_ Haldor Topsoe Inc., Des Plaines, Ill.

_ ICM Inc., St. Joseph, Mo.

_ INEOS New Planet BioEnergy LLC, Vero Beach, Fla.
