Canada's second-largest auto parts maker Linamar Corporation says it is closing its Invar Manufacturing plant in eastern Ontario, and cutting 134 jobs.

CEO Jim Jarrell said Thursday that the plant in Batawa, Ontario, is not competitive in an increasingly difficult North American auto parts market. It will be closed over the next few months.

Linamar produces precision metallic components, modules and systems for global vehicle and power generation markets.

Linamar has more than 9,000 employees and operates 37 manufacturing plants in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Germany, Hungary, the UK, China, Korea and Japan.
