The National Automobile Dealers Association spent $778,000 in the third quarter to lobby the federal government on the Cash for Clunkers program and other industry-related matters, according to a recent disclosure report.

The McLean, Va.-based trade group, which represents more than 20,000 franchised new car and truck dealers, also lobbied on legislation dealing with the consumer credit market, labor and tax issues during the July-September period, according to the report filed Oct. 20 with the House clerk's office.
