Equipment supplier United Rentals Inc. said Monday its government services unit has won state purchasing contracts in Texas and Massachusetts as spending increases in part due to the government's economic stimulus program.
The company, based in Greenwich, Conn., won a sole-source equipment rental contract through 2012 in Massachusetts. It also received a shared contract in Texas through 2012. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
United rents out construction and industrial equipment and has contracts with FEMA and other agencies.
The unit's director, Robert Caudle, said government agencies have been relying on United Rentals to help fulfill work projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
United shares rose 3 cents to $9.22 on Monday.
