Sentencing has been postponed for a former Louisiana state lawmaker who pleaded guilty to conspiring to launder money for an unlicensed bond broker's illegal insurance business.

Former state Sen. Derrick Shepherd was scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday, but U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier on Monday postponed the hearing until Feb. 11.

Barbier didn't provide a reason for the postponement in his one-page order.

Shepherd pleaded guilty last year to conspiring to help 54-year-old Gwendolyn Moyo launder money. Moyo was sentenced to 20 years in prison after a jury convicted her of charges she sold millions of dollars in bogus construction bonds.
