A Wisconsin appeals court has reinstated a $5 million damage award in a family feud involving one of the world's largest beef jerky companies.
The District 3 Court of Appeals in Wausau ordered Link Snacks Inc. founder Jack Link to pay the sum to his son Jay Link. Jay Link contended he was unfairly cut out of the family business in 2005.
A judge had reduced the jury's $5 million award to $736,000 after Jack Link argued it was excessive. But the appeals court ruled the original award should stand because Jack Link filed his appeal a day after a deadline passed.
The Minong, Wis.-based company sells jerky and other meat snacks worldwide.
