On Tuesday night, Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton addressed a celebration dinner for the 30th Anniversary of EMILY's List, a political action committee devoted to getting liberal women elected to office. This is Clinton's first public appearance since news broke she used a private email account for most if not all of her communications when she served as U.S. Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013.
"When I look at this room, I see leaders," Clinton said at the dinner held at the Washington Hilton Hotel. "And my hope today is that whatever you have done, if you were in that basement with [EMILY's List found] Ellen [Malcolm] all those years ago or if you have just discovered EMILY's List and are a first-time member that you will redouble your efforts in the next months."
"Don't you want to see more women running for mayor and governor who will put our families first? Don't you want to see more women running for Congress who will follow in the footsteps of [retiring Senator] Barbara Mikulski and champion equal pay and equal opportunity?" Clinton asked the room.
"And I suppose it's only fair to say, don't you someday want to see a woman president of the United States of America? Well?" Clinton said to rousing applause.
