In 2011, James Foley, the freelance American journalist abducted in Syria and beheaded by ISIS, sent a letter to his alma mater Marquette University when he was captured in Tripoli, Libya. He was released after 45 days due in part to a campaign by his Marquette friends. The letter was a testament to how his faith and his prayers (like the Rosary) helped Foley get through that trying time.
