Sen. Mark Kirk undergoes successful gall bladder surgery Staff

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) underwent successful gall bladder surgery Monday morning after complaining of stomach pains over the weekend, his office said. The senator was admitted to a hospital north of Chicago on Saturday complaining of stomach pains. Doctors determined that he had gallstones and that his gall bladder needed to be removed. He is expected to make a full recovery, according to a statement released by his office.
