Bob Schieffer, Jim Lehrer and Robert MacNeil all vividly remember John F. Kennedy’s assassination 50 years ago on Friday, namely because they were working as young reporters in and around Dallas. Schieffer was night police reporter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Lehrer was at the Dallas Times-Herald, and MacNeil was covering Kennedy’s visit for NBC News. POLITICO spoke with the three, who all went on to have Hall of Fame careers in the news business, about their recollections of the day.
