Retailers Abandon “Happy Holidays” Trend Staff

As Christmas approaches each year, it seems those who celebrate the holiday’s true meaning find fewer and fewer reflections of their faith in the public square. While winter-themed and secular decorations adorn most storefronts, the word “Christmas” is often conspicuously absent. For nearly a decade, the American Family Association has spearheaded a campaign to reintroduce the holiday’s proper name into the shopping season. While most of their efforts have revolved around reaching out to retailers who have dropped it for the more politically correct “Happy Holidays,” this year at least two major stores will embrace the “Merry Christmas” greeting.
