White House: Immigration reform can pass by year end

White House press secretary Jay Carney Wednesday said President Obama still firmly believes that an immigration bill can make it through Congress and reach his desk by the end of the year. Carney brushed asides doubts that a bipartisan consensus can be reached on major changes to U.S. immigration law with partisan tensions still running high in the wake of the government shutdown Washington.
