Transgender ‘Woman’ Escapes Plato’s Cave

In the “Allegory of the Cave,” Plato imagined a group of people who were confined to a cave-like chamber from birth, chained in a way that made it impossible for them to stand up or move their heads.  So, they sat still facing the wall of the cave for their entire lives.

Behind the prisoners was a pathway where men, like puppeteers, stood behind a low wall holding up wooden images of men and other objects to project shadows onto the wall of the cave using the light from a fire behind them.  The “puppeteers” gave voices to the objects, which echoed off the cave’s wall.

With only the ability to sit and stare at the wall, the prisoners were conditioned to believe that the shadows were real men, and that the echoes were real voices.

Plato supposed that one of the prisoners escaped the cave.  He became so disoriented and blinded by the sun’s splendor that he had to be dragged and forced to continue the journey.  Once his eyes adjusted, he realized that life inside the cave wasn’t real, so he rushed to warn his fellow prisoners.

But returning to the darkness of the cave made him disoriented and, for a time, blind. The prisoners thought the blindness and confusion was permanent, so they vowed to never leave the cave and to kill anyone who tried to drag them out.

Like Plato’s allegory, America is rife with puppeteers in the media, in politics, Hollywood, schools and government who propagate the country with “shadows” and “echoes” to make us believe all sorts of things that aren’t true.

They’re telling us that illegal immigration is immigration; that the electoral college (and just about everything) is racist; that health care and education is a right; that men can become women (without ovaries, monthlies and menopause), and women can become men.

Army vet Jamie Shupe, the first American to be legally recognized as non-binary, was one of those who believed that a man, feeling he was born in the wrong body, could become a woman.

“There’s abundant online literature informing transgender people that their sex change isn’t real,” he wrote in a Daily Signal column.  “But when a licensed medical doctor writes you a letter essentially stating that you were born in the wrong body and a government agency or court of law validates that delusion, you become damaged and confused. I certainly did.”

So, at a time when he was suffering a severe mental health crisis triggered by PTSD, Shupe set out to become a woman.

“I am a transgender woman,” he wrote at the time.  “My civil rights are fragile. …  And my trans brothers and sisters are forced to serve their nation in silence.”

Shupe was all-in.  He underwent cross-sex hormone therapy at a Pittsburgh gender clinic to get sign-offs on his planned transgender surgeries.

“All I needed to do was switch over my hormone operating fuel and get my penis turned into a vagina,” he wrote.  “Then I’d be the same as any other woman.  That’s the fantasy the transgender community sold me.  It’s the lie I bought into and believed.”

The lie began uncovering itself, he said, when he looked in the mirror one day and still saw a man.

“People on the street agreed,” Shupe wrote.  “Their harsh stares reflected the reality behind my fraudulent existence as a woman.   Biological sex is immutable.”

To cover up for the reality that he could never be a woman, he decided to be neither man nor woman – non-binary.  An Oregon court obliged him.  Becoming the country’s first person to have non-binary status catapulted him to instant fame with LGBT organizations and the liberal media.  They “clung to my every word,” he wrote.

But they’re not clinging anymore.

“Overnight, I went from being a liberal media darling to a conservative pariah,” Shupe wrote.

Why?  Because once he realized that it’s biologically impossible to switch genders, Shupe started speaking out against the “sterilization and mutilation” of gender-confused children and transgender military service members.  He didn’t want their bodies to suffer the same irreversible damage that his did, based on a lie.

“The weight of the lie on my conscience was heavier than the value of the fame I’d gained from participating in this elaborate swindle,” he wrote.  “Two fake gender identities couldn’t hide the truth of my biological reality.  There is no third gender or third sex. Like me, intersex people are either male or female.  Their condition is the result of a disorder of sexual development and they need help and compassion.”

The word “disorder” was not a slight. It was the medical term used in earlier editions of the “Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders” (DSM) before advocates lobbied the American Psychiatric Association to change the language from words that they said stigmatized transgender people as mentally ill.  So, the DSM’s fifth edition changed the diagnostic term “Gender Identity Disorder” to “Gender Dysphoria.”

But the stigmatism has now reversed.  Shupe complained that there were “professional stigmatisms” against conversion therapy that made it impossible for his therapist to question why he wanted a sex change.

“The best thing that could have happened would have been for someone to order intensive therapy,” he wrote.   “That would have protected me from my inclination to cross-dress and my risky sexual transgressions … Instead, quacks in the medical community hid me in the women’s bathroom with people’s wives and daughters.

“I played my part in pushing forward this grand illusion,” he wrote.  “All of my sexual confusion was in my head.  I should have been treated.  Instead, at every step, doctors, judges, and advocacy groups indulged my fiction.”

Out of misplaced compassion, many in America are fully indulged in the “grand illusion” that men, like Caitlyn Jenner, are women.  They’ve become like characters in Plato’s allegory, sitting and staring at shadows on the wall and threatening those who tell them they’re not real.

Don’t believe they’re serious about hurting people who shine light into their caves?  Check out Ben Shapiro on a CNN Headline News show with Dr. Drew and Shapiro’s response a day later. A topic that started with whether Caitlyn Jenner deserved ESPN’s Courage Award, careened toward violence after Shapiro, like Shupe, said that the idea that a man can become a woman is delusional.

As Shapiro said in the video, America can play this game all it wants, but it will not end well.
