Obama Stumps for Jobs Plan, Calling for ‘Action Now’

RICHMOND, Va. — A day after throwing down the gauntlet before Congress, President Obama took his $447 billion jobs plan on the road on Friday, exhorting college students here to contact their lawmakers, by carrier pigeon if necessary, to pass his legislation.

“I want you to call, I want you to e-mail, I want you to tweet, I want you to fax, I want you to visit, I want you to Facebook, send a carrier pigeon,” Mr. Obama said to a raucous crowd of nearly 9,000 on the lush, red-brick campus of the University of Richmond.
